September 11, 2015: Extreme Cocker Makeover – Update!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIt is so nice to receive updates from adopters of dogs and cats that were rescued on ACN runs and this one is super fantastic! ACN rescued Tucker and Tess back in May from a dangerous, neglectful environment.

Here is an update from their new adoptive family and their original story below:

“It’s all good over here! We have done some traveling this summer and Tucker and Tessa are so easy and fun to travel with and they have really bonded to us! I bought some grooming tools, watched a YouTube video and have been grooming them myself. They just went to the vet on Friday and they were healthy and their ears are clear too. We say all they time how lucky we were to adopt such loving dogs!”

Original story:

These two Cocker Spaniels started out okay when they were puppies, but then turned in to backyard breeder dogs, living outside in a muddy pen with no grooming, vaccines or medical care. And the brother and sister were breeding together.

Thankfully the owner called the Animal Care Network to pick these guys up and we responded immediately.

Many thanks to the Michigan Animal Rescue League (MARL) for taking them into their adoption program, getting them groomed, doing their medical and getting them spayed and neutered before adoption.

These two were very frightened coming out of this bad situation, but very quickly blossomed into some very cool, happy dogs. There was actually a double shooting at this address two days after we picked up the dogs.

Sadly in our target area, we also see neglect of small dogs and purebred dogs. The lack of grooming, lack of socialization, lack of medical and lack of spay neuter makes for a very bad environment.  Many end up living outside like these guys.

They will find wonderful homes through MARL, so another happy ending! Don’t they look awesome?!
