July 17, 2015: Violet

Last week we bid a fond farewell to another beloved four legged friend Violet.

Barb Perl and Dorothy Laut adopted Violet just four months ago, an adorable senior little Westie that had been rescued in terrible condition.

Violet came into their lives just for a short time, but it was the quality of her time with them, not the quantity that really mattered in the end. Sadly Dorothy was in hospice at the time and Violet was of great comfort and peace to her in her final days.

As we all know, when we open our hearts to senior animals we do not always have them as long as we would like, but it is a brave and loving heart that takes on a senior animal.

Barb had to say goodbye to Dorothy in March and now Violet this past week. Our hearts are with you at this sad time, but please let yours be comforted by knowing that Dorothy and Violet are together again.

“There is a cycle of love and death that shapes the lives of those who choose to travel in the company of animals. It is a cycle unlike any other. To those who have never lived through its turnings or walked its rocky path, our willingness to give our hearts with full knowledge that they will be broken seems incomprehensible. Only we know how small a price we pay for what we receive; our grief, no matter how powerful it may be, is an insufficient measure of the joy we have been given.”
