The Animal Care Network teams make sure that all doghouses are drilled on to wooden pallets.
Not only does this elevate the doghouse off the ground and stop the bottom from freezing, but it keeps the doghouse from being knocked over by the dog and the chain.
If the owner is not home, the team has to distract the somewhat grouchy dog in order to get this job done.
Of course a note is left on the door for the owner to BRING THE DOG INSIDE, along with cold weather tips the Animal Care Network
educational packet.
The teams always attempt to get the owner in the backyard also so they can see how cold out is for these poor dogs and point out what the issues are!!
