April 3, 2014: Left Behind

The Animal Care Network received a call about a female dog that had been left behind when her owners moved. She looked like she had quite a few litters and was thin and cold. She was rummaging around in all the garbage that had been left behind at the house looking for something to eat. Patch had recently had a litter of puppies and the owners sold them and kept two.

Isn’t this a common pattern?

Neighbors reported that the owner took the puppies when they were leaving and made the statement referring to Patch “we don’t want her anymore, she is too old and she won’t stop having puppies”. OMG how infuriating is that statement! They blame it on the dog, leave her behind and just drive off with their two new puppies, never looking back.

Needless to say, ACN responded immediately and rescued poor Patch, who was skinny, dehydrated and covered with scars and wounds. She is a very stoic, appreciative dog that is looking for a foster home with no other dogs.

Please let us know if you would like to foster Patch or are able to foster any of our rescue dogs or cats.

Please call Chris at 248-545-5055 if you are interested.
