PONTIAC, Mich. (WJBK) – Dozens of abandoned dogs are dying on the streets of Pontiac. A spike in the number of animal deaths is causing concern. Fox 2 went along with the Animal Care Network to see what they’re up against, and how they’re saving abandoned dogs.

With temperatures in the teens, we saw dogs shivering in the cold on Robinwood St. in Pontiac. In recent months, animal rescue workers tells us a dozen dogs have been found dead. The cash-strapped city let go of their animal control officer making the problem worse.
“Its disgusting,” said Evan Deutsch, a volunteer with Animal Care Network. They’re on the streets every week. They say owners are abandoning dogs like never before. They’re worried problem will get worse going into winter months.
