Thanks to a private spay neuter grant at this time the Animal Care Network is offering free spay and neuter for cats in Pontiac, Auburn Hills and Waterford areas in an attempt to get more and more cats and kittens fixed. We must stop these unwanted, abandoned, neglected, unhealthy litters.

These are all kittens picked up on Animal Care Network runs, some are born from pets, some feral, some abandoned. They are everywhere, under porches, on roofs, in alleys, in abandoned houses. Many of them are too far gone by the time we receive the call to rescue them and YES many of them have to be humanely put to sleep due to severe anemia, dehyrdration, severe illness, injury and feline cat diseases that run rampant in our target areas. Is this the fault of the rescuers or the shelter workers that are trying to help them? Absolutely not, it is the fault of the person or people that refuses to get them spayed and neutered when there are options and spay neuter programs available.

We could potentially pick up no less than 10 – 20 cats and kittens every single week in just our target areas. We do the best that we can for each and every one, but everyone is bursting at the seams, many shelters and groups even turning animals away. Rescues and foster home are overloaded!

Bottom line: TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SPAY NEUTER PROGRAMS AND GET YOUR CATS AND KITTENS, MALES AND FEMALES FIXED NOW!!!!!!

How can there be “no-kill” until these litters are not being born. This is reality. ACN is on the streets every single day and bear witness to this tragedy over and over again, dozens of calls about cats and kittens week after week.

Please be a part of the solution, not part of the problem. If we have to blame someone for the pet overpopulation and animals being put to sleep lets start at the top, dogs and cats that are not fixed are the problem. Dogs and cats cannot do this by themselves, so the owners are the problem.
