July 22, 2014: Kane – Neuter

Coordinating a low/no cost spay neuter program is not always the best responsibility in the world, let’s just say there is much frustration…….?

Frustration sets in every single time someone does not show up for an appointment that has been planned for weeks.

Frustration sets in every single time someone does not show up, nor do they call to cancel an appointment that has been planned for weeks.

Frustration sets in every single time we get the run around with various excuses not to make or keep the appointment. Well if it is financial, we have financial aid available.
Well if is transportation, we have transportation available.

Frustration sets in when you go to pick up an animal and the owner simply will not answer the door, whether it be intentional or unintentional. Did they really forget? Or did they really never want to have their dog or cat fixed?

So we go from one extreme to the other, the people that make no effort, to the people that make EVERY EFFORT.

Meet Louis and Kane!!! Kane was scheduled for free neuter and vaccines with our friends at the Michigan Humane Veterinary Clinic in Rochester. We got him in through their “free pit bull sterilization program” of which we are a partner..

Well, it was 9:00 am and Louis and Kane hadn’t arrived yet so we called to find out where they were…..Their car had broken down over a mile down the road and they were on their way to the clinic WALKING. They were not going to miss this appointment no matter what. We offered to pick them up but they were walking up the MHS driveway as we spoke!

This was very cute, very inspiring and definitely one of those things that makes you keep going when the going gets tough!!! We were very proud of them for making the effort and rewarded them with a couple of big bags of dog food.

Thanks guys for not letting anything keep you from getting Kane neutered!!
