July 3, 2013: ACN – Dog Attack

The Animal Care Network has been around for so many years, the dispatch phone rings all day and all night for a variety of reasons, it never stops….

The ACN also has many families that we have assisted, that consider us a resource, a place to go for help or advice… families that we have known for years. But we can only do so much.

What would you do if you were having a barbecue in your own backyard on a Sunday with your family and your two dogs minding your own business?

What would you do if all of the sudden two huge dogs showed up and started attacking your two dogs, within inches of a baby?

Well it happened to one of our families, Tinkerbell and Jake whom we had spayed and neutered many years earlier. Both dogs were attacked violently and were nearly killed. The family called the Sheriff’s department and the stray dogs were apprehended. There was literally blood everywhere and the dogs were in a life or death situation.

They rushed to Oakland Veterinary Referral Services in Bloomfield Hills, the only nearby clinic open 24 hours. It is by the grace of God, that Dr. Fleischaker at OVRS saved Jake’s life that night, what a miracle she is. After spending all their resources on Jake, Tinkerbell still needed attention and Ross Hospital for Animals came through for her.

A huge thank you to Dr. Fleischaker, Dr.Ross and Dr. Mazzuchi for being so skilled, so concerned and so compassionate. These veterinarians and clinics are nothing but amazing, professional and dedicated!

The ACN has checked on Tinkerbell, Jake and their human family and they are all healing up physically and mentally from this terrible ordeal.
