Local businesses have come together to collect food, supplies and money for the Animal Care Network.

The animal group reported in November that it was running out of food and supplies for its street teams, which work in Pontiac and Inkster.

Two local businesses jumped at the opportunity to help. Teknicolor Paints collected about 350 pounds of dry pet food, along with canned food, treats, blankets, litter and $100.

Aleta Sill’s Bowling World collected nearly 5,000 pounds of food, other supplies, a $100 Pet Supplies Plus gift card and more than $700 in donations.

“We are overwhelmed by the inspiring generosity of Teknicolor Paints and Aleta Sill’s Bowling World,” said Marie Skladd, president of the Michigan Animal Adoption Network, parent organization of ACN. “Food donations are critical to the continuation of the program in both Pontiac and Inkster.”

Many other local businesses are stepping up to the task to keep the ACN food and supply drive going through the winter.

“With your food donation and help from Girl Scout Troop 40137, Mike Palmer and Premier Pet Supply, we can help families in need feed and keep their pets,” said local animal welfare enthusiast Laura Fenton.
